Hello, My Darling
Scrolling through the NottsRocks inbox while slowly melting in the June heatwave, one email jumped out from an artist called Regi Weking in Indonesia. For those bands and artists still waiting for us to get to their submissions, don't worry, we will. This one simply happened to catch my eye at the right moment.
The email contained a press release and an MP3 for Regi's latest single, Hello, My Darling. As most NottsRocks readers know, we have a very simple quality control process, what I call "the smile test". If a track puts a smile on my face within the first twenty seconds, it usually stays on. This one passed with flying colours.
Regi Weking is a rock singer-songwriter and former vocalist of Indonesian heavy metal band Garuda Force. His latest release, Hello, My Darling, is inspired by The Beatles and brings together a piano-led arrangement, driving guitars, drums, and an infectious melody across its 3 minutes and 34 seconds. The song tells the story of longing for a lover or spouse, something many listeners will recognise, particularly those navigating a long-distance relationship.
Released through Trendz D'Music Singapore Pte, the track began life as a slow rock ballad before being transformed by the producer into the upbeat, foot-tapping rock number it is today. The result is a warm, catchy song that balances heartfelt sentiment with an energy that makes it difficult not to tap along.
I like it. In fact, it may well become my new kitchen soundtrack while attempting a Coq au Vin, something I'll admit I haven't made for far too long.
So, good one Regi. Keep it up.
