Vibez Danceworks Annual Showcase
On a sunny Sunday night (11th October), the Nottingham Girls’ High School auditorium played host to Vibez Danceworks’ annual showcase.
The children, and the teachers themselves (there was even a cheeky mums’ routine), danced their way through all styles, including street, ballet, jazz and tap. They did it with a professional sheen that showed off all the hard work this local dance school has put in over the year, turning its pupils into stars.
There’s a theme each year, and this year’s was careers, so we got routines on everything from mechanics to marine biologists. The compère expertly filled the gaps while performers changed and readied the next number.

It wasn’t just the sight of their own very talented kids up on stage that had the audience whooping and clapping along. It was the high energy on display and the choice of music they were popping and locking to.
School head Claire has been working with children of all ages since 2005, and even runs an adults’ class. They performed on the night too, with a comedic tribute to Dolly Parton!
There aren’t many activities for children that keep them occupied, fit and disciplined, but the solid work Vibez does was right there on stage for all to see. You don’t get this good without hard work, and everyone involved should be proud of what they’ve achieved.
